Full Moon in Aries
Courage to Confront Challenges
The Moon will directly oppose the Sun in Libra on Thursday, Oct 17 at 4:27 am PT creating a tight Grand Cross between all 4 cardinal signs: Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn. Cardinal Crosses occur when four celestial bodies in cardinal signs make a 90° angle between each other, and two of those energies also create a 180° opposition.
Squares can bring up friction, pressure, and tension, and oppositions can highlight areas of our lives where contrasting and polar energies are at play. We can feel immensely challenged by these two aspects, however, they also teach us that through discomfort we find growth, motivation, and breakthrough.
Squares are dynamic aspects that can provide a turning point for change and a drive to mature through life's obstacles. As uncomfortable as it might be to feel the polarizing nature of life, oppositions can also create the necessary awareness to fully see the differences that need to be reconciled and integrated.
Since we have squares and oppositions in all cardinal signs, we are being invited in some way to set things into motion. Cardinal energy can reflect a sense of initiation, leadership, and determination.
The first major opposition of this Full Moon is the dynamic energy between the 3 forces of The Moon, Eris, and Chiron in Aries opposing the Sun and Juno in Libra.
Eris is exactly in the same degree as the Moon wanting to be acknowledged out of the the depths where she presides. In Greek Mythology, Eris is known as the Goddess of Discord and Strife, she symbolizes the rising of the uninvited feminine. She embodies the feminine energy that hasn’t been understood, is often repressed, and struggles to be seen in society. Eris is here to fight for the right to exist.
Chiron being so close to The Moon and Eris allows us to be with the pain that Eris within us might feel in seeking to be witnessed, accepted and loved. In this Full Moon, the Sun in Libra spotlights Eris and allows her to be fully acknowledged. The Sun in Libra also reminds us that we must find a way to relate and create a dialogue with these more dense and hidden parts.
The second major opposition of the Grand Cross lies between Pluto in Capricorn and Mars in Cancer. When the God of the Underworld and the God of War are in aspect with each other, it can manifest through power struggles and strong emotional reactions. However, when we are able to connect with the light of Pluto and Mars, we have the ability to access resilience, amplified energy for action, unyielding willpower, and courage to embrace the changes that are here for our evolution.
Questions to reflect on during this Full Moon:
What part(s) of your life are calling for the necessity for decisive action?
What uninvited feminine power are you ready to RECLAIM?
How can you experience tensions in your life as growth opportunities?
May the force of the Grand Cardinal Cross propel us towards more courage, awareness, and soul growth.
