The Full Moon in Scorpio occurs today, April 23rd at 4:50 pm PT. Only 3 days ago on Saturday, April 20th, we had the important conjunction of Jupiter & Uranus conjunction at 21 degrees of Taurus. This transit marks the beginning of a new 14 year cycle, and these two planets will only meet again in Taurus in 2107!
Since the Full Moon is also in the sign of Taurus (Sun at 4 degrees of Taurus and the Moon at 4 degrees of Scorpio), this weekend's Jupiter-Uranus conjunction is being set in motion by this powerful Full Moon.
Themes associated with Jupiter & Uranus are dramatic breakthroughs, quantum leaps, unexpected openings, and exciting feelings of freedom. Wherever we have Fixed Signs in our charts (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio & Aquarius) it can shake us up of what we have outgrown, and help us step into newness!
What is also significant about this time is the activation of Pluto, the ruler of Scorpio and therefore the ruler of this Full Moon. Pluto is currently at 2 degrees of Aquarius making a tight square to both the Sun and the Moon. Whenever Pluto is involved in we are being asked to explore the hidden darker parts of ourselves, the parts we don't want to face, but are boiling inside of us.
One of the most powerful attributes of Pluto's teachings is that of courage. The esoteric mantra of Scorpio speaks so beautifully to process..."Warrior I am and from the battle I emerge triumphant." In order for us to move through the Jupiter-Uranus breakthroughs, we must find the bravery to work with our shadows.
In Buddhism and other spiritual tradition, this Full Moon is known as the Wesak Full Moon and is believed to mark the birth, enlightenment and death of Buddha. In Esoteric Astrology, it is seen as a time of heightened spiritual awareness and insight.
