Solstice & Full Moon in Capricorn

Celebrating the Light

The Full Moon in Capricorn took place on Friday, June 21st at 6:08 pm PT. Even though we are technically 1 day away from the Full Moon, we will still be feeling the energy throughout the weekend.

One of the most significant attributes of this Full Moon is that it aligned only one day after the Solstice. The word "solstice" comes from the Latin meaning of the sun standing still. In the Northern Hemisphere, the Summer Solstice marks the longest day of the year as the Sun appears to stand still at its highest point in the sky.

Through the imagery of the Sun embracing its fixedness, we can also take the time to catch our breath and reflect on the light that we are emitting, our vitality, and the creative force that moves from our solar plexus. This can be an important time for contemplation, especially after a fast-moving Gemini season with an abundance of air and mental stimulation.

Movement suggestion: 5 minutes of Sun Salutations in the morning can be grounding during this time, and allow you to connect with stillness in your heart.

One of the important things to note about this Full Moon is that it will be the first of two Full Moons in Capricorn during this Cancerian Season. The second Full Moon will occur on July 21st, so there is a bigger process that we're moving through this month with the energy of Cancer-Capricorn.

Themes associated with Cancer-Capricorn can be related to:

  • balancing personal/family life (♋️) with professional activities (♑️ )

  • integrating nurturing instincts (♋️) with more disciplined responsibilities (Capricorn)

  • fostering emotional security (♋️) through healthy boundaries (♑️)

Neptune is playing a significant role in this Full Moon because it is forming a tight square to both The Sun & The Moon. When Neptune is involved it can bring confusion and difficulty in seeing the bigger picture, however, it also highlights the importance of our spiritual values as they relate to our home life (♋️) and our service in the world (♑️). Take the time to pay attention to the Neptunian whispers around you.

This is a time to celebrate the light from the Solstice, from the Full Moon illumination, but most importantly what wants to be birthed from within us this season!
